Last Friday I tweeted a link to a story featuring 91-year-old Barbara Beskind who landed her dream job as an inventor and innovator just two years ago, at the ripe old age of 89. Clearly proving you’re never too old to begin doing what you love.

That very same day the Skandalaris Center hosted our First Friday Skills Session & IdeaBounce.  In case you aren’t familiar with IdeaBounce®, it is an elevator pitch competition that enables students, faculty, community members – anyone at all – the opportunity to pitch their idea before a panel of judges.  We always have bouncers on the official program. However, while the judges scores are being tallied, we host an open mic.  This way if there are folks in the audience that have an idea they want to share, they have the opportunity to do so.  A young man was in the audience that day and when I opened up the floor to open mic participants he was the first to raise his hand. Meet Jack, an 8 year old entrepreneur, a mere 83 years younger than Barbara Beskind, clearly proving – you’re also never too young to begin doing what you love.

Cheers,

Stacy
