Three Washington University in St. Louis alumni made it to the 2018 Forbes 30 Under 30 list, a recognition given to young visionaries, leaders, and entrepreneurs in twenty different industries.

Congratulations to Andrew Brimer and Abby Cohen of Sparo and Sam Coster of Butterscotch Shenanigans!

About: For patients with asthma or COPD, getting a lung function measurement is tough. Abby Cohen and Andrew Brimer’s Sparo has obtained clearance to sell a smartphone device to measure lung function, and raised $2.7 million.

About: Coster cofounded Butterscoth Shenanigans with his two brothers, Adam and Seth, and developed and released the action-adventure role-playing video game Crashlands in 2016. The studio earned $1.4 million in revenue last year.


All three Washington University recipients participated in Skandalaris Center programs as students and alumni. Brimer and Cohen’s company, Sparo, was formed in Engineering and Business courses while students, and they have participated in the Skandalaris Center Cup (formerly Olin Cup) and have hosted interns through our Summer Entrepreneurial Internship Program. Coster participated in the Summer Entrepreneurial Internship Program as a student intern.
