The Midwest Digital Marketing Conference (MDMC) Pitch Competition hosted by University of Missouri – St. Louis recently awarded top prizes to two WashU startups. At the Competition, held at Union Station in downtown St. Louis, five startups presented innovative ideas in the hopes of winning $3,000 for their businesses.

First place and $2,500 went to GiftAMeal, a mobile application that helps provide a meal to someone in need each time a user takes a photo at a participating restaurant.  GiftAMeal was founded by WashU alum Andrew Glantz (BU ’17). Jacob Mohrmann (BU, LA ’16) serves as the GiftAMeal Chief Marketing Officer.

The People’s Choice Award and $500 was presented to Regavi*. The personal CRM (relationship-building platform) and identity verification service (social identity blockchain) was represented by CEO Michael Kramer (BU ’18, SI ’19).

The competition was a great experience for the teams. “We had a terrific time at the MDMC Pitch Competition. I leaned so much from the other entrepreneurs about their experiences in digital marketing”, GiftAMeal CEO Andrew Glantz shared. “The judges questions truly made me think. I am honored they selected us to win the competition. We are planning to utilize the win and prize money to build momentum and continue our growth trajectory”, he continued.
