Recently the Skandalaris Center hosted an informational session bringing students from all four schools together to learn about Entrepreneurship at WashU and the greater St. Louis community. The evening opened with quick introductions of both audience and staff members as well as a few testimonials of individual experiences in various SC programs. Staff members then began introducing students to the core mission of the Center, to develop Creativity, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship at WashU. Students learned about some of the various programs the Center runs such as the Hatchery, an entrepreneurship focused class co taught by the Skandalaris Center’s Managing director II Luscri, and the Skandalaris Center summer internship program.

Jessica Weldon, assistant director of programs, told the audience that the Skandalaris Center isn’t just for people who already have that big idea. “Anyone who is creative and wants to build something should join our programs without fear of failure. Its more important to fail now”, she said, “especially before the money really matters.”

Following the presentations, the students had the chance to network and get to know some of WashU’s entrepreneurship student groups. One big themes hammered home throughout the evening, “sign up for the newsletter” as it is one of the best resources available for learning about new and exciting opportunities here in STL.
