The Skandalaris Innovation and Entrepreneurship Club hosted guest speaker and WashU alum, Jerry Rosen (BFA ’81) on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, to inspire and fuel entrepreneurial student’s ideas and make them successful. During this workshop, Rosen utilized three important questions:
- What do you love?
- What are you good at?
- What is needed in the marketplace?
With these questions, he motivated students to find overlaps in their answers, and use these overlaps to move their entrepreneurial ideas forward. Based on their individualized answers, each attendee left the workshop with pieces of advice and guidance from Rosen.
Jerry Rosen is a Wash U alumnus with a career spanning over 30 years, having morphed from advertising art director to serial entrepreneur. He has launched multiple marketing and technology focused businesses serving roles as BOD Chair, CEO, CMO, CRO, and multiple director seats.
“This event was personalized to each attendee, which included undergraduates from almost all schools, graduate students, alum and family”, said Maddy Singleton, club president and student at Washington University. “Rosen was able to ask questions about people’s passions and skills to find how we can all contribute to the market while doing what we love,” she said.
The Skandalaris Innovation and Entrepreneurship Club brings students from all schools to create solutions to problems they feel passionately about, while acquiring and using entrepreneurship skills and resources from the Skandalaris Center. The club will continue its speaker series in the Spring 2022 semester, bringing in a guest speaker from a St. Louis started company every week in February.
