CELect: Center for Experiential Learning’s Entrepreneurial Consulting Team
CELect is a 3-credit course at Washington University in St. Louis, bringing together undergraduate and graduate students from business, engineering, law, and arts & sciences to form dynamic, multidisciplinary consulting teams. Taught by II Luscri for Spring 2025, the course is an opportunity for students to partner with startups each semester.
What We Offer: Our MBA program is renowned for Entrepreneurship by Poets & Quants, and our undergraduate entrepreneurship program is consistently ranked in the top 10 by the Princeton Review. CELect pairs 4-5 students with each startup to tackle a strategic challenge, offering startups a fresh perspective on growth-related problems such as product development, market analysis, and competitive positioning.
Startup Requirements: We are seeking funded startups with established revenue and leadership (CEO, Founder, and/or member of the leadership team) who are available to engage with our students. Eligible startups must be legally registered entities. The startup will present a challenge for students to focus on throughout the course, typically aimed at accelerating growth. Students will work in a strategic consulting role, not as interns. Please note that we avoid projects requiring NDAs.
Course Structure:
- Kickoff Meeting: In-person meeting in Austin on Tuesday, January 7th for students to meet with the CEO/Founder and scope the project.
- Consulting Period: 7 weeks of student remote work with periodic communication for data and support, as outlined in the SOW.
- Final Presentation: Fifteen-minute virtual presentation on February 28, followed by ten-minutes of questions. Following this, the startup will receive the final deliverable and support material.
- Commitment: Two initial meetings, data and contacts as per the SOW, and ongoing email support. Optional invitations to other meetings or events.
