Skandalaris Center Expert on Call Cheri Renee and the Invent-ED Network Connection presents inventor-specific classes to provide students with the necessary information, education, and resources to help further their ideas and products along the innovation path.

On Saturday, October 17, 2020, they are offering the following classes:

1)    How to Sell and License Your Product or Ideas, Time: 9:00am – 10:00am 

Learn the pros and cons of licensing versus self-production of a new product and how to secure a licensing deal yourself.  Gain tips to approach major retailers, brands, big box stores, and other potential licensees with or without a prototype or patent.

2)    Launching a Crowdfunding Campaign is Not as Easy as You Think! , Time: 10:15am – 11:15am  

Before launching your first crowdfunding page on Kickstarter®, Indiegogo®, GoFundMe®, there are many factors you need to know. Without this knowledge, you could put your invention at risk in more ways than one! The class will help identify the best crowdfunding site for your idea, discuss the risks crowdfunding publications pose both with and w/o patent protection, and fully explore the different campaign sections.  

3)    Quickly Find Valuable Inventor Help and Resources ONLINE!, Time: 11:45am – 12:45pm  

Researching and collecting general information about your invention is daunting.  Class will show how to quickly gather valuable information and useful tools from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) website.   Students will be introduces to the USPTO’S self-help center and gain a better understanding of the different forms of IP (e.g., patent, trademark, trade secret, and copyright), their costs, and filing process (with or without an attorney).

4)    Don’t Blow It!  Best Practices to Maximize NSF i-Corp™ Funding, Time: 1:00pm – 2:00pm
