Imagine bringing back an artifact from a future city: What would it look like? What future would it be from? What reaction would you have? Stretch your creative and interdisciplinary thinking through a rapid, high-energy card game surrounding the topic of what our collective urban future looks like. This workshop is an adaptation of the card game, The Thing from the Future, facilitated by BIGWIDESKY, a St. Louis design agency.
What is The Thing from the Future card game?
Create descriptions of hypothetical objects from different near-, medium-, and long-term futures. In each round, teams draw cards that outline the kind of future the thing-to-be-imagined comes from by specifying: what part of society or culture it belongs to, describing the type of object that it is, and suggesting an emotional reaction that it might spark in an observer from the present.
