John received his PhD in Developmental Biology from Marquette University in 2012, but originally hails from the sunny and dry California Hi-Desert. He joined Washington University School of Medicine as a postdoctoral scholar in the summer of 2012 and was awarded a NIH F32 NRSA postdoctoral fellowship to explore control of cell differentiation by RNA binding proteins. John became interested in entrepreneurship after working as a consultant with the BALSA group, where his data analysis and problem-solving skills proved useful for aiding new and growing businesses. Ultimately his experiences with the BALSA group drove his transition into providing this help to new ventures full time at the Skandalaris Center.
