Marketing and Communications Interns - Fall 2025 Recruitment

Looking for a fun, energetic job that gets you connected to the change-makers, thought leaders, and visionaries of today and tomorrow? The Skandalaris Center is hiring Marketing and Communications interns for the 2025-2026 school year! The interns will support communication and outreach to the WashU community and document Skandalris Center events, programming, and initiatives. This position is responsible for capturing, selecting, and organizing the most effective writing for the center's use, editing articles to the highest level. This position reports to the Communications and Events Specialist.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Regularly attend Skandalaris Center events, including (but not limited to) workshops, IdeaBounce® events, Hackathons, and other specialized events, capturing content to a high degree of quality.  
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to develop campaign-specific plans aligned to the center’s brand. 
  • Plan, write, and edit blog content recapping center events and promoting center programs.
  • Conduct research to support content development and ensure accuracy and credibility. 
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to write scripts for social media videos.
  • Ability to create clear, compelling, and engaging written content for social media. 
  • Participate in meetings and contribute to the strategic planning of marketing campaigns. 
  • Direct communication and outreach to engage the student body in Skandalaris events and programs.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with student organizations, faculty, and university departments.
  • Attend campus events and meetings to promote the organization and its initiatives.
  • Develop strategies to recruit students for specific programs or events. 
  • Conduct outreach campaigns to raise awareness and increase participation.

Time commitment:

The intern is expected to work approximately 5 - 10 hours per week. Weekly work schedule is based on the student’s schedule and will occur in-person at The Skandalaris Center in Mallinckrodt. The position will often include evening/weekend commitments. Weekly commitment may fluctuate depending on the center’s needs and students’ academic responsibilities.

Time commitment:

The internship is for Fall 2025 through Spring 2026.

Pay:

$15.00 per hour, paid bi-weekly.
