Make It Take It

On September 28, 2018, over 75 students, faculty, staff, and their children gathered in the Skandalaris Center to paint a pumpkin.

On September 28th, we held our first ever Make It Take It, a maker event at the Skandalaris Center where students, faculty, staff, and children can come together to make a craft that they can take home.

The purpose of Make It Take Its is to promote creativity at any age and within any discipline—because anyone can be creative. We will partner with on-campus student group, CANVAS, to put on these maker events on a monthly basis.

Cleo Yan (Math and Finance ’20) holds up a pumpkin she painted at the event.

To get in the Fall spirit, we painted pumpkins with over 75 students, faculty, staff, and their children. Many commented that the activity was not only fun, but simultaneously stress-relieving. First-year Arts & Sciences student, Charlie Paraiso, found a sense of zen during the event. He told me, “being able to do a fun craft such as pumpkin painting helped me relieve a lot of stress that’s been building up. It’s good sometimes to have fun and be in a creative space.”
