In partnership with Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts and Professor Bruce Lindsey, the Skandalaris Center hosted the founders of The Nomadic Movement Kaylee Dubeau and Jordan Saglio.

Kaylee and Jordan shared how they went from a small town in Massachusetts to the side of a mountain in Panama and how social media entrepreneurship helped them along the journey.

After Jordan was laid off from his job, the couple decided to buy a bus to "go find themselves." Their cross-country tour ended with them deciding to take their trip from California to Mexico. From there they traveled to Panama, El Salvador, and Costa Rica. All the while they amassed more and more viewers on their YouTube channel.

There were many twists and turns along the way that shifted how they made money, where they lived and so much more. Their biggest pieces of advice for those interested in taking an unexpected path:

  • Create things that matter.
  • The best time to take a risk is now.
  • You don't need to know what you're doing before you start.
  • If you feel uncomfortable you are on the right track.
  • Trust yourself over everyone else.
  • Failure is the best motivator.
