Weston Career Center presents a Conversation on Entrepreneurship with Tom Hillman, Managing Partner at Lewis & Clark Holdings, and Dean Mark Taylor. This event is part of the Power Lunch and Learn Series.

Tom Hillman will be sharing his experiences, insights, and advice as an entrepreneur and General Partner at Lewis & Clark Ventures, a venture capital firm focused on high potential Series A & B round investment opportunities in the Midwest region. He is a Washington University alum (Economics, 1978) and a huge supporter of the university, students, and alumni.

Tom Hillman

Mr. Hillman has been involved with private business enterprises over the course of his career, during which time he’s owned more than 60 companies in a wide variety of industries. He is Managing Partner of the Lewis & Clark family of companies, which represent an assortment of investment platforms.

Spurred from many successes in Mr. Hillman’s private and individual investment sectors, Lewis & Clark Partners was formed as an institutional investment platform.  Represented are multiple active funds focused in growth capital through Lewis & Clark AgriFood and in venture capital / high potential Series A & B round investment opportunities in the Midwest region via Lewis & Clark Ventures.

Mr. Hillman serves on the Barnes-Jewish Hospital Board of Directors, the BJC Healthcare Board of Directors, Washington University in St. Louis Board of Trustees, Chair of the Brown School National Council, and is a member of the Skandalaris Center for Interdisciplinary Innovation and Entrepreneurship National Council.

Dean Mark Taylor

Mark Taylor, the Donald Danforth Jr. Distinguished Professor of Finance, became dean of Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis in December 2016. He is one of the most highly cited financial economists in the world and has served as an advisor at the Bank of England, International Monetary Fund in Washington, DC and World Bank.

Taylor holds masters and doctoral degrees from Oxford University, London University and University College, London. In 2012, the University of Warwick recognized him with a higher doctorate for his lifetime contributions to the field of finance.

Dean Taylor serves on the board of directors for Shakespeare Festival St. Louis, as a research fellow at the St. Louis Federal Reserve Bank, as a research fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research and as a senior fellow of the Brookings Institution in Washington, DC. Taylor has also served on the AACSB board. A skilled horologist, he owns a collection of fine antique English clocks, all of which he has restored himself.
