How VCs Approach Questions
Thursday, March 27, 2025 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Skandalaris Center, Mallinckrodt 128, 6465 Forsyth Blvd #128, St. Louis, MO 63105
VCs don’t just listen to pitch decks—they ask the right questions to uncover risks, validate opportunities, and decide whether a startup is worth doing deeper due diligence. But how do investors know what to ask, and how do a founder’s answers shape their decision-making?
Join us for the second session of our Venture Evaluation Series, where we’ll dive into how VCs frame questions when conducting due diligence with early-stage startups. You’ll learn how investors approach founder discussions, what key insights they seek, and how a single response can influence an investment decision. Whether you’re an aspiring VC, a founder preparing to raise capital, or a student interested in the venture ecosystem, this session will give you a firsthand look at the strategic thinking behind investor questions.
This workshop also builds on insights from the first session and is a great way to prepare for the Venture Capital Investment Competition (VCIC), where students step into the role of VCs and evaluate real startups. WashU will be fielding a team, and this series is your chance to sharpen the skills needed to compete.
