Experts on Call
The Experts On Call program allows students to connect with experts in the Skandalaris Center or remotely, free of charge. These meetings help inspire the current innovators on campus and connect them with subject matter experts, to network and build relationships. Our community of innovators and entrepreneurs benefit from connecting with experts with diverse backgrounds and industry expertise. Experts benefit from joining an exclusive professional network dedicated to giving back, staying connected to new ideas, and helping the WashU community thrive through unique professional learning experiences.
Consumer Hardware Development
Cheri Renee is Private Business Consultant and Entrepreneur with over 20 years of combined business management and non-profit leadership experience. She has a BA in Psychology, MBA in Management and Marketing, and an MSW in Non-profit Organizational Management earned from Washington University in St. Louis.
Kurt is a marketer with over 20 years of experience across business development functions in CPG and wholesale distribution. He has led marketing efforts at the brand, product, customer and corporate level and sales development at national accounts, channels and independent retailers. Kurt holds an MBA from the Olin School of Business.
Pat Mathias served as an adjunct instructor at Harris-Stowe State University, worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis for 20+ years and currently owns and operates two businesses focused on communication and training. She also assists at SCORE, the nation's largest network of volunteer, expert business mentors.
Ben Haefele is the Co-Founder of Adalo, a platform to build an app without coding skills. He is an experienced leader in product development, project management, and UX design. Ben is the former VP of Product and Operations at Second Street, an organization he originally joined as a Skandalaris intern while he was studying entrepreneurship at Washington University.
Crowd Funding and Manufacturing
Paul is the CEO of Greater Than Games and sells board and card games throughout the world. He and several partners won the Olin Cup in 2008 with their company ITOG, Inc., a web recommendation engine. He worked as a software engineer for The Genome Institute at Washington University School of Medicine. Paul graduated from the Washington University School of Arts & Sciences in '07 (BA) and '08 (MA).
Investment and Funding Strategy
Larry Yavner is the Managing Partner and Founder of LBY Partners. The firm makes income producing investments in proven businesses with strong leadership characteristics. Prior to founding LBY Partners in 2012, Larry spent almost 25 years on Wall Street focusing on investments in all aspects of the capital structure. Larry has an AB in Economics from Washington University in St. Louis and an MBA from Fordham University.
Richard Becker (AB '86)
Digital Marketing and Customer Acquisition
Rich has an extensive background in consumer insights and marketing. He has managed powerful global brands, launched new products and services, and efficiently targeted elusive audiences. Rich has worked with major brands including American Express, Red Lobster, Intuit, Continental Airlines, National Dairy Board and startup ventures. Mr. Becker earned a bachelor’s degree from Washington University in St. Louis where he studied English and Business and has taken courses at the Johnson School, Cornell University.
