Wednesday, January 20, 1-4 p.m. (Central) and Thursday, January 21, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. (Central)

In partnership with the Sam Fox School of Design and Visual Arts, the Skandalaris Center will hold a Freelance Bootcamp to help students and alumni navigate a freelance career, from how to determine if freelancing is right for you to what hard skills are needed for freelance success. This Bootcamp is for artists, designers, photographers, bloggers, influencers, and everyone in between.

By the end of the two sessions, attendees will have:(1) An understanding of how to start or grow a freelance career; (2) Developed a toolkit of skills and programs to manage the business of a freelance career; (3) Made connections with campus and community partners.

This Bootcamp is open to all but geared towards Sam Fox students and alumni

Wednesday, January 20:

1 pm: How to make freelancing a career with Ben Franklin, Founder, Principal and Creative Director of Yank and Limey, Inc and Jen Meyer, Assistant Director, Career Services – Art

2 pm: Skill workshop – Customer Acquisition with John Hendrix and Ryan Abendroth, Founder, Passive Energy Designs

3 pm: Skill breakout sessions

• Marketing for Freelancers with Melinda Love, Founder of M Consulting Group
• Everything you need to know to make money freelancing with Julia Kuo, Illustrator/Freelancer and Noah Baker, Brand Designer

Thursday, January 21:

9 am: Skill workshop – Negotiation with John Horn, WUSTL Professor of Practice in Economics, and Bob Francois, Skandalaris Expert on Call

10 am: Freelancers Panel
